About This Project

The king of all the clubs. The touring machine of James Hetfield and Metallica. What else can be said about this band that hasn’t be said? Metallica is remarkable and they are truly my favorite band of all time. No other band has held their presence (with me and with the public at large) nor had the longevity they’ve had in metal. I still think they were the best live band I’ve ever seen: Godzilla-like to witness. Through the bumps in the road, they are still going strong, continue to tour, and make great music.

Growing up, I worshiped at the altar of James Hetfield—he was the coolest cat there was. I grew to idolize his guitar playing and still site him as a one of my biggest musical influences.

Metallica’s first four albums are tops in the genré but I revisit Ride The Lightning the most. And Fight Fire With Fire is the track that sets the tone on that album. In my opinion, when they released Ride The Lightning, they flat out annihilated every other rock/metal band out at the time. It’s faster, more aggressive, more melodic and dynamic, unapologetic, honest, and brilliant. Five stars.

The band—collectively—wanted nothing more than to kick your ass live. I’ve yet to see another band have their ferocity, vision, and determination. This track is about war, specifically nuclear warfare,  meaning “using the weapons or tactics of one’s enemy or opponent, even if one finds them distasteful”. To what you need to do to survive. Fight.
